Girls Varsity Competitive Cheer · New Spirit Coaches!!!!


Battle Mountain Athletics has hired two new coaches!

Kelsey Wright is the new Cheer leading coach and Rachel VanGordon is the new Dance Coach!  Bio’s and pictures coming soon!

Cheer leading will have an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 24th in the B.M.H.S. lecture hall right after school.

Dance will be holding tryouts Monday August 23rd from 3:45-5:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 3:45-5:30 p.m. in the B.M.H.S. dance room.

Husky News · Concussion Discussion! August 23rd


The Vail Valley Medical center would like to invite B.M.H.S. parents, coaches, and athletes to the Concussion Discussion at Berry Middle School Auditorium on August 23rd at 6:00 p.m.

This presentation will include:

 

  • Kim Greene, VVMC’s Injury Prevention Specialist, will talk about her personal experience with her son and how the benefits of playing sports and concussion awareness are important.
  • Local doctor, Dr. Feeney, who specializes in concussions, will be presenting on what is a concussion and include the signs, symptoms & treatment.
  • Brittany Huntimer, a Howard Head PT, will discuss how impact testing plays a role in the process and how PT can help students get back to their sport.
  • Brandi Martin, ATC from Steadman Clinic, will discuss the “Return to Sports” protocol for parents and students and include pertinent stats on concussions in Eagle County.

Emily Cope is a 2016 Scholar All American!

In order to be given this honor the athlete must be 1st Team All State, have a 3.75 or higher GPA and have completed community service.  Emily was also an AP Scholar with distinction (6 AP tests with an average of 3.5 of higher score)  and 1st Team all state from both the CHSCA and CHSAA teams. She will be attending Southern Methodist University this fall, where she has already enrolled and begun summer classes.

Previous B.M.H.S. Scholar All American’s were Acacia Ortiz ’15 who was the Conference Tournament player of the year in the RMAC playing for Colorado School of Mines. Christian Espinoza ’13 who was a state champion in 2012 at Battle Mt. and this spring graduated a year early from Colorado Mesa University.
